GT500 wing painted or unpainted?

Been thinking about doing the only exterior mod I like on these cars besides lowering and tint American Muscle sells the 3D Carbon GT500 wing painted for $300 or unpainted for $192. Has anyone bought the unpainted version and had a shop paint it for you? I'm curious if I could get it done for about the same price as the pre-painted one. That way I could make sure the color matches. Although I supposed I could just return the pre-painted one if the color doesn't match. Does anyone have experience with either? Thanks!

I bought my 3D Carbon spoiler pre-painted Red Candy metallic from CJ Pony parts, I believe 3D actually does the painting. I preferred the gurney flap on the rear edge pained black as they do with theirs.

Mine was a great match on a 3 year old car. Very happy with the results.

I am planning on upgrading to the OEM GT500 spoiler myself. You can get it here for $231 plus shipping: (Found this site from another member here!)

My body shop said it would most likely be about $100 - $150 to do the final prep and paint. I figure for a little more money I would go for the OEM.

Check the thread I started about comparison of the two. I've had them both.

Oem has a black plastic gurney flap that's attached after painting. 3D is masked off and painted.

Nothing against AM, but their paint quality sucks. I had to return my spoiler, then read several posts about others having issues. I got a refund and ordered through CJ. Paint quality was great and they paint the gurney flap black.

Wow, now I'm really torn and don't know what to do. If it's going to be much more than $300, I'd rather just save the money for a different mod that is more worth it.

Buy the spoiler unpainted and have your dealer paint it. I just had a Cervins front lip spoiler painted and it was $100.00. Paint was a perfect match.

Also ordered mine from CJ pony parts and the paint match was great. Plus the gurney flap is left unpainted which looks more like the oem gt500 wing

Does anyone on here have a Race Red with the 3dCarbon or GT500 wing or know anyone with one? I'm looking at race red GT500's without stripes on Bing/google but it's not a very accurate representation.

I had no issues with AM when I got mine....paint was good, installation a snap.

I loosely installed mine so that the striper cpuld run the vinyl under the spoiler. He covered the Gurney flap in matte black heavy gauge wrap material and it looks factory.

Seriously get the OEM and have it painted.
(Don't want to bad mouth 3D

I know a **** good shop in Indy. Abra body and paint. Did an awesome job matching my performance white bumper. (Hard color to match due to plastic and metal parts) affordable too!

I got several quotes and they were the best.

I bought the 3dCarbon pre-painted from CJ Pony Parts. Mine is 2011 GT RACE RED, picture attached below. Paint match was 95%, looks great, black Gurney flap. Paid $297 back in 2012.

I realize the GT500 wing is better quality, but part of me wants the bigger one from 3dCarbon for a better look. Tough decision. Thanks for the suggestion on Abra though!

My 3D Carbon was prepainted by AM and it was a perfect match, even the orange peel matches factory.

I was concerned about chipping or fading, but no issues nearly two years later.

What if black is the easiest color to match?
