First Mustang 2011 5.0 GT 12K miles

I just bought my first Mustang. I was disappointed to find that Bluetooth & Sirus button on the radio stack don't work. I had a 2010 Malibu and also have a 2013 Equinox both those car have these function built in. I justify figured that they were going to be functional.

The car is really nice, I love the look, it's so much easier to get in and out of than the Corvettes I've had. It has all the horsepower anyone would want. Glad to find a forum to read and comment section. I've learned so much from the Corvette Forum I hope you guys are just as helpful.

Hello From Rochester NY
John

Looks nice!

My car is also a base GT with an automatic. I did not want to go too fancy for just a daily driver.

Mine is also an automatic. I'm going to be 69 years old in 2 weeks. My shifting day are over. I like the Sirus radio, but the Bluetooth is something I don't use. I only have a tracfone and I only use it when I'm away from home.

I got the auto just in case my wife ever has to drive the car in an emergency. She has not driven a stick since 1997 and said she does no want to try. She drove a stick in Hawaii for 3 years so I know she can, she just doesn't want the hassle, lol. I miss shifting.

So what do you mean by the bluetooth doesn't work? I could see the sirus not working if you don't have a subscription, but have you tried pressing the voice button and saying "bluetooth audio"?

The car looks nice! I think it might look a little cleaner with some tint and maybe removing the MUSTANG GT lettering and stripe. Just my opinion though

I 'thought' base models didn't come with SYNC or Sirius. His Mustang doesn't have the trunk 'wart'.
Welcome to the Forum and you have a nice looking Mustang

My base has the sync and Sirius buttons but they won't work without upgrading.

My base stereo (2011 GT ) didn't have the buttons or anything. No Sirius, no sync, Just an aux port in the console. I'm pretty sure none of that was not part of the base package. Also nice looking stang!

Nice looking car John. Welcome to TMS. I like the 2011 and 2012 with the cowl hoods.

Hello From Rochester NY

Hi John Wysocky Sr,

Congratulations on the 'Stang; she's a beauty!

If you'd like, I can check to see if the vehicle is equipped with SYNC/Sirius. Send a PM with the VIN and I'll check it out.

Whitney

There was a Tech package on base cars that added sync, power driver seat, BT and self dimming rear view mirror. I would have liked to have had that package as it was dirt cheap, but I wanted Sterling gray more and they did not have one in that color with just that package.

The 2014 build site is still up:

I'm going through the build site now. So wow, you couldn't get the BOSE upgraded speaker system without buying a premium?

You're not missing much. The upgraded Shaker 500/1000 system has terrible speakers. They're not Bose. They're just made in china paper crap. The only advantage to it is it is amplified, but the amps are not the greatest even with aftermarket speakers. Kicker makes a plug n play system called the VSS powerstage with amps and everything. If you're not into hacking wires, it's great. Shelby has some plug n play stuff too. You still need to change the interior speakers for good sound though. You can also always get a factory integration adapter like a JL Audio cleansweep and use discrete amps.

You can add Sync to a base car using a Ford kit designed for other model years. It's pretty involved, though, and requires a steering wheel, all kinds of parts, and a trip to the dealer for programming, so you need to be a tinkerer type to have the patience to do it. If it was me, I'd install an aftermarket nav unit with integrated bluetooth. It would be much easier, cheaper, and more functional.

Sorry, I made the mistake of calling it "BOSE"...you're right, its actually called "Shaker". Anyway, I beg to differ. I have friends with the Shaker system and it sounds a HECK of a lot better than the horrible base speakers lol. My 2006 Elantra has better sounding speakers than the Mustang. I'm not car audiophile however, so I think the Shaker system would be plenty enough for me!

Great looking machine. Clean, low miles...sounds like a winner all around.

Personally I think there's enough going on with the styling on these cars that the louvres and stripes are sometimes a bit "much."

Then again, most folks seem to love them.
