I did not bought them in 285 size, because they needed at least 9.5x19 wheels, too bad.

When I get some wear on the GY F1 tires I have now they will be replaced with Conti Extreme DW's.

Thanks, M3Hunter... where did you hear that the ExtremeContact DW were approved for 9" wheel? Is that from Continental directly?

If so, you just ended my several month long tire debate.

The DWs run small. I would never run that tire after my experiences with them on the Teslas. They wear extremely fast, become noisy with little mileage on them, the narrow tread makes the sidewall not protect the outer rim...no thanks. The DWS though, I would definitely run those again.

This is valuable feedback. Thanks. The reviews on Tirerack are glowing but most of these people have very few miles on them.

Do you recall if the DWS run comparably small?

EDIT: DWS seem to be a less high performance tire... much higher treadware rating, much less "positive space" in the tread design. Hmmm...

Yes the DWS are more of a "ultra high performance" tire, more like a high performance all season. With respect to the OP, I wouldn't run then for autocross, but they are a good all around tire. I'd say they run..."true to size" lol. I had 255/295s on my 03 and they had about 10k miles on them. Still quiet, still plenty of tread, good grip in the dry, excellent grip in the wet.

For an all out autocross tire though, I'd look elsewhere.

I had them on my 2011 for 8k and had none of these problems.

Interesting. I've seen dozens of them wear down to the belts in less than 10k miles. I also saw dozens of them pick up nails and screws like a high powered magnet.

With a 340 wear rating I don't see them wearing out quick.

You'd think...all I can pass along is my experience.

Tread wear ratings are relative. IIRC, they're based on the relative wear rate amongst a particular manufacturer's line up.

This is true. TW ratings are not regulated per se, but in reality they're just a manufacturer's rating based on the rest of their lineup. I forgot about that.

Which wheels are you running?
I'm running the Niche Targas staggered (8.5/9.5).

I had a great driving experience with my 275/40R19 Michelin Pilot Super Sport square setup mounted on my stock brembo wheels, no complain at all they match great my 3.73 gear, probably my front ones tended to follow a bit the road groves, but on standing water they are superb and did a great job at the track curves, did a lap of 30 secs. vs a bmw m3 (V8) 29 secs. just my brakes quit on me.
Now I want to move up to Bridgestone Potenza RE -11, but I'm not planning to change my Brembo wheels that I really like, and I know that their 285's aren't the right ones for my 19x9 wheels. They have very few options from were to chose, I was thinking to go squared with their 265/35R19.
What do you all think?

What's the main reason you're trying to stick with stock Brembo wheels?

They are nice looking, but heavy. I use my stock wheels for street duty, but for track applications I upgraded to 19X9.5 wheels. You can fit 275 or 285 wide tires, and with RE11s I'd go with 9.5" wide rim for sure. This will allow you to keep proper sidewall angle which is important for performance driving.

Plus there are good tire options in 285/35-19 or 275/40-19, and 265 wide tires will have less grip than same tire in the wider size.

Yes I know what you mean, just that I don't want to expend cash in other wheels, since I rarely go to the track. I prefer a one solution for all.

I see. In that case your best bet might be sticking with 275/40-19 on stock wheels. 265/35 will be a lot shorter, so you'll loose 3-4 mph of top speed in each gear. Maybe its no big deal, just something to consider.

275/35-19 may also be worth considering. Similar problem with less top speed in each gear, but to a lesser extent, but lots of tire choices.

Probably I will go instead with Dunlop Direzza zll, available in 275/35's.
Anyone using them?

Hopefully someone who used them on a Mustang can chime in. There are a few guys I work with who auto=x and do open track days (WRX and Focus ST) who have nothing but good things to say about the Direzza Star Spec.
