I agree but they should have access to the new ones.

It looks like the airbags are only being distributed to certain areas. My brother got his done at a dealership in southern NJ, but my dealership outside of Philadelphia still has no stock

Update: last evening I received a personal phone call from the service manager of the Ford dealer. The upshot being that (I believe I have it right-it was after my first glass of Gnarly Head Zinfandel) a Ford representative was supposed to be coming through and that they have expedited delivery of the subject part. I will give them the benefit of the doubt and await new developments. Let's give props when props are due. Will keep you posted.

Hey guys I am total lurker but feel like I should post. Future Ford Roseville just replaced my 2014 GT drivers airbag this week. I was in for another problem which had required me to come in multiple times. On the last visit I asked them the status of the airbag and the service writer said he believed limited parts were due to arrive that day. When I picked up the car it was done with a new center cap for the steering wheel and all! So it may be a lottery but the parts are out there!

Two week update: still in holding pattern and no further contact from the dealership. Been busy and I admit I haven't followed up in the meantime but neither have they. Will get on it next week to at least get a status report.

I got this in a letter from Ford:

"We regret to inform you that your car will no longer be eligible for the airbag recall after you install your supercharger, because your car will be so f*ckin' fast, the airbags won't do you any good. Have a nice day, and be comforted knowing that they'll probably write songs about how you died in a glorious ball of fire while traveling at a gazillion miles per hour."

I suppose they have a point. Air bags are useless above light speed.

Interesting - official recall expanded today includes 2005-2009 Mustang and 2012. 2010 and 2011 are somehow ok in here? http://www.autoblog.com/2017/01/12/8...senger-airbag/

Oh Lord, just as I thought, we are caught up in a typical "Chinese Cluster F&^%." I look for Tanaka to go bankrupt before any one of us get the bags fixed.

I'm still waiting to hear about parts for my 2013. I was in for service a couple of weeks ago and looks like they've quit even mentioning the fact there is a recall on the car.

The problem, as I understand it, was more likely to occur in warmer and more humid climates. I believe the manufacturers allotted parts on that basis. So the dealers further north have been on the back end of the queue. At least that's my speculation and it's based in part on a comment I've long since forgotten from a service advisor.

You talking about the big yellow notice that came in the mail? I got that the other day too, then I called and she said everyone's getting that big yellow notice but they still don't have parts, and we will get another notice when they actually do.

Short update: I mentioned last month my travails regarding this issue. Yesterday I received the BIG YELLOW NOTICE in the mail. So I called my dealer and, after the nice woman on the phone confirmed that the part was indeed in stock, I have an appointment for the replacement on Thursday. Nothing is done until its done but fingers are crossed.

Yes, mine was the BIG YELLOW NOTICE, and my dealer has the parts.
