05-09 compared to 10-14

I have been thinking of trading in my 2005 v6 for a used 2012 v6. There are two aftermarket add ons from Silverhorse that I have on the 05 and want to have on the new 2012 and wanted to know if they would fit.

The first one is the quarter window louvers. I love them and get many , many compliments on them. Is there a difference between the 05 and the 12? If so is there that much of a difference that they wouldn't fit?

Second is the window switch plates. Again same as above. Will they switch over to the 12?

Actually there is a third. I bought an extra set of NTO 05 GT 18" front brakes - rotors , pads , calipers. I put the first set on my 05 v6. Will the second set fit on the 12?

Thanks in advance to anyone that could help me.

Jeff

Louvers wil fit.

Door switch plates will not

The brakes will not switch over

May I ask why you wouldn't jump into a 12' GT? Just curious because now that the new 15's are out, the price difference between the V6 and GT is probably not as great any longer.

Thanks Robert. Good to know about the louvers. I see that Silverhorse has 05-09 louvers and 10-14 louvers so I thought there might be a difference.

I wanted the v6 for a couple of reasons.
One is that I drive the car year round which means the 4 SSSS's snow, slush , salt and sand in winter. My 05 6 is awesome in the snow and even though the '12 has 100 more hp , I'm hoping it will be just as good.
Two is for insurance reasons.
Three is that I have two other vehicles with v8's that I drive for fun in the summer and am starting to work on a third that will also have an 8 and be driven in the summer. LOL I really don't need a fourth that I can only drive in the summer.

Thanks again.

The 3.7 v6 is way better than the old 4.0 v6. That thing sounded like a truck when I drove it.

Get at least a 2013 V6 and hopefully a manual. The price difference is probably not that much more. I like that it has the exact same front grille as the GTs so at least it doesn't have to look like an inferior mustang. Throw on the AM black billet grille and no one is none the wiser. I've got the couch upper, lower, and splitter on mine. Looks mean for a V6.

Hi shouldhavegottheGT, love the wheels. Are they 19 or 20? Niche? Thanks

STR 607s 20x9 all the way around with 275/45 toyos. Pretty cheap wheels. I paid less than $800 for the set from a local shop.

Actually, the 05-10 GT brakes became the 11-14 V6 brakes, so they'd be exactly the same. In 2011, the GTs got another .4" of brake rotor up front, so that would be the only upgrade you could easily do to the new V6, along with the required GT caliper brackets.

I agree with getting a 13-14 though, as they all came standard with leather wrapped steering wheels and HIDs, which just make the car look a lot nicer.

I thought only the 14s come with hids.

Thanks guys for the info.

So....
louvers will fit ....
front brakes are the same and will fit......
switch plates will not fit ........

I also did some more research on your ideas.
The '13 and '14 models are not a whole lot more than the '11 and '12 years. In my area a good used with low mileage are only about 3 - 4k more. Not a lot but something to take into consideration. The '13 and '14 's look really good with the Shelby style upper and lower grille. I could add a Shelby hood and have myself a knockoff.
My current car is WVB , which I love , but I'm really liking the Grabber Blue on the new ones. I really hope I can find a good used one for a decent price. Should be manual with black, heated leather seats. I'm getting hemorrhoids sitting on freezing cold leather up here in the north country lol.
Wish me luck!

Do it. 13 will be your only option if you want GB on the newer body though...they discontinued it in early 2014.
