1998 Mustang Camshaft position sensor problems/misfire
Whenever we read for codes through the computer of the mustang we get this code: P0340
We replaced the camshaft position sensor because the sensor the car came with originally was melted onto the synchronizer. We replaced the synchronizer as well. The car is also not running on all 6 cylinders, we narrowed it down to the second cylinder. We checked the compression and it was good, we checked the spark plugs and it was good. Could the camshaft position sensor be the problem with the misfire?
Also, the car has been overheating a bit, whenever I'm driving I hear like a long grasshopper sound, and when I try to turn the cars ignition it has trouble turning on, like a loss of power. Please help me diagnose these problems. The engine itself it running very strong when revving it.

Replace the alternator. It sounds weird, I know, but I had those codes, changed that sensor, spark plugs, tested the injectors, cleaned the MAF and TB, hell, I even replaced the cars computer. A 5 minute job to replace the alternator and I haven't had any problems since.

When it comes to the electric system of a car having a good battery is key.
