Need some side stripe Ideas!
Hey all.
Last fall I bought an Screaming Yellow 06' GT with 47xxx on the clock. The car had some sore of glossy "Mach 1" decal package that I wasn't really a big fan of, but the price was right for the car (especially up here in Canada)
So far the I have got the rear deck redone in flat black and without the "Mach 1", and I removed the section of decal that was in front of the front wheel well because I felt it looked out of place. I don't mind how it looks now, but it just seems unfinished too me.
The problem with the decal kit is that when they installed the they used a razor blade to cut where the decal ends and the "fender flare" part the the sheet metal begins. So I am scared to remove any more the the decals for fear of ugly dirty cuts showing up in the paint.
So now I am kinda wondering what I could have done for stripes that incorporates/covers the old stripes (I will have them redone in flat black) and still looks half decent. I was possibly thinking a boss style stripe, but the old stripe sits a lot higher on the body than any boss stripes I have found. Any ideas/input on what you guys think looks good would be appreciated!

Is the side stripe tapered? If so, it would look better the same dimension all the way. Glad you got rid of the piece in front of wheel well the way it was, but I'd put a stripe back on there that's a continuation of the side stripe and angle cut to match fender but not rounded. I liked the MACH 1 on the sides, reminded of 71-73 models. Look at some pics of that generation and you might get some ideas. Good thing about vinyl is you can take it off when you get tired of it except when the installer cuts paint.

here's the tape layout of what I was going to do- even made a fullsize cad plot, and bought a roll of 3m black reflective- but pretty much forgot about it till reading this post... the stripe was going to be solid black reflective, including the top of the wing...maybe not a good idea- but a idea no less

this was my original first photochop on someone elses car(before I got mine), thought I'd toss it in here too... I tweaked it around a bit before deciding on the one a post up- just like everything else, never finished...

just a opinion, but think semigloss on your trunklid or a SHR panel might go better than the flatblack- and the SHR medallion like Brad had on his car was sweet- polished ring/black lid/pony emblem...
Personally, Id peel the B-pillar blackout too, and I'm heavily biased towards the SHR flush louvers- they look awesome on anything... maybe try adding a yellow stripe on the wheel lip- just to break up all that black... Ive seen some black wheels with a red stripe that looked pretty neat- never saw any other color yet
whatever you might decide on, its your ride- gotta be what looks right to your eye...opinions are plenty, but just that
