Arrow HELP-- Having a hard time! 2015 Ecoboost Premium or 2014 GT Premium--What's your Pick

Hi Guys

I'm having a hard time picking. There are great deals out there on the 2014s and there is a dealer that will sell me a 2015 at $200 over invoice.

Both these cars are within $500 of each other.

2014 GT silver Premium
6 spd auto
Electronics package/navigation
RR Sensing/security package
Comfort package
Brembos "I think I will sell and get baer 14" 6 piston front and back"

VS

2015 Ecoboost Premium 200A
6spd. Auto
navigation
Premier color accent package
Adaptive Cruise Control
reverse park assist

What would you guys pick and why? I would love to hear what you guys think.

Thanks,

Is this a trick question?? How could anyone turn down a 'new' 400 HP V8 in a Mustang for basically the same money? Even if it was a 2012 or 2013 'new' zero mileage V8 I'd take one of those too before an Ecoboost. The name alone makes me want to do this to Ford marketing.

There is a lot of up side to the Ecoboost as well. New body style, mpg, and maybe others.

I think both have upside that's why I'm having a hard time

Go with your gut, no one here is going to help you make the decision. Everyone is going to have a different opinion. All you're looking for is someone to justify the one you like a bit better so you don't regret going for the other one. Stick to what you want and go with it. Its a mustang, you will enjoy it no matter what you pick.

It's a hard decision. I suggest you look on www.F150forum.com, and read up on the ecoboost. It will give you an idea how they are doing if your not sure.

Me, I would stick with the 5.0L in either you choose. I haven't even got used to Ford calling it an "Ecoboost" in the truck. Sounds like something that should be in a little boring chitbox people mover. But, I'm old so nobody cares what I think anymore.

I recently considered whether to but a 2014 or wait for the 2015. For me buying the last year of the current style was an easy choice. I can always trade or sell my 2014 and buy a "new" 2015, 2016, 2017... But, I'll probably never get another chance to buy a "new" 2014 after this year. Also V8 vs. V4 Eco Boost...V8 all day long! Good luck with your decision. I agree with previous posts. No matter what you pick, you will be happy with a new Mustang!

I just cant get used to the idea of a Mustang thats being made in Europe and Asia in a right hand drive configuration! Imo Ford sold our beloved Mustang to the world and by doing so has forever watered down this once true American muscle icon! That being said i feel that when the hype of this new Mustang wares off, the S197 5.0's will be very collectible! Id buy the 2014 just for that reason alone! Not to mention it would hand that four banger its ***!

I don't feel quite that strongly. Ford is doing what they have to do and judging by their track record with the Mustang marque, and the fact that they remained successful without a government bailout speaks volumes (yes, the bailout issues for the other two still sticks deep in my craw).

I'm sure Ford will sell a ton of these, everywhere. It's a global economy like it or not.

But the 2015 just doesn't scream MUSTANG at me. Truth be told, I wish Ford hadn't deviated too much from the 05-07 styles. IMHO, those were the best looking of the retro Ponies. But at least my 2014 still looks like a Mustang and the 2005-2014 are almost as iconic as their Gen 1 and 2 ancestors.

As far as collectibility, who knows? The 2015 may be just as collectible since it's the first year ever with IRS.

In fairness, I wish Ford well with the new Mustang. But I'm perfectly happy with my dinosaur straight rear axle 2014.

Oh yeh Ford will sell a lot of these new cars! They will be built everywhere in the world for the masses. As for the "global economy" ,Im one of those that thinks the Mustang should have stayed her at home just like the Camaro and the Challenger. They could have given this "global economy" a remake of the Ford Probe GT or some such! I don't care one way or the other personally, this will more than likely be my first and last Mustang as i plan on keeping it until the wheels fall off! And adding a Porsche to the stable in a few years. Thanks for your input.

How about you spend a little more & go with the 15GT ? I'd rather own the 15 but I'm kind of bored with my 13. Scott

I'll never by a vehicle that is in it's first year of production or one that sustained as many major changes as the Mustang did going from the S197 to the S550. I've been working in IT supporting automotive manufacturing and assembly for ~25 years. I know the problems those first year (or two) models can bring to you.

Two years ago, I had a brand new '12 GT Premium/Brembo. I was hit by a car (as a pedestrian) while on the side of the freeway and lost my left leg above the knee. Being that I couldn't reliably drive a manual trans car (even with a prosthesis), I had to decide whether to trade in the '12 on a '14 AT or wait for the '15. I ran as fast as my one leg would take me (lol) and ordered my '14 GT Premium/Brembo with the AT.

The more I see the pics of the '15, the more I know I made the right decision.

That sounds terrible man. Glad you're still hanging out with us though. At least you can get the Brembos with an auto now...

One potential to consider is the 14 is the most developed S197 platform, the 15 is new, first year cars scare some people.

There's no replacement for displacement! So I say the 5.0.

RoadPilot, Man Im sorry to hear about your accident. You made the right decision. I was going to wait till I saw the first picture then I saw it. If I wanted a fusion I would have bought one. I ordered a 2014 GT tack as well.

How is the auto with the Brembo's?

Pent up demand doesn't go on for almost half a decade so Ford has had to gamble on the new car evolving it.

Personally I like everything south of the front bumper which is a bit bulbous for me but still not bad looking.

I'll have to check in at the local dealer in the coming weeks so I can see it in person and get a better feel for it (I didn't care for the vette in photos but I like it in the flesh).
