I kind of like the sound of my Trinity with Corsas and Boss quad exhaust.

Sounds a little like a tiger swallowed some razor blades and got pissed.

I think it also depends on exhaust setups as well. I don't really get to hear the full sound of my car because im always driving it, when others do take it for a sping i revel in the chance to get to hear it and it sounds great.

But i'll say this my buddies 01 cobra sounds just oh so much better. Is it due to the engine? exhaust? i dunno. But i wouldn't say its the BEST sounding.

Also where was it said that it was the best sounding? Cause im sure some of the v8 exotics or higher end cars have a better exhaust note.

The 4.6's do sound great however. I still attribute my ownership of a mustang to a stranger (who I will never know) who drove a black 05-09, lowered, and with a sinister sounding exhaust. I saw that car 4 years ago, and will never forget it. After I heard (and saw) that car, I knew I just HAD to have one. And now, well, here we are.

As for our Coyotes, Mike, maybe it's just because you haven't heard a Corsa exhaust on a Coyote, paired with an Xpipe, intake, and a blower? Because I'd argue that mine is the best sounding

hehe.
Good points and observations, guys...but a question can not be "opinionated." I think what you meant was that this is a "subjective" matter and I totally agree about that. When we develop a preference for something WE become opinionated.

Don't underestmate that 91 GT! Yes, you're 100% correct if we're talking stock vs. stock but the potential for that push rod 5.0L is pretty much unlimited when you start throwing money at it.

I beg to differ with OP lol, with the right exhaust setup, these coyotes sound deep and really just scream like no other american V8. The low tones of ls motors is nice and all, but the 7K+ rpm sound is hard to beat IMO

A guy in my hood has a bike just like that with the exact same exhaust...Makes me wanna pee my pants everytime he takes it out...sounds like a SB Chev My buddy has a VMax with the same type exhaust and a stage 3 cam kit. It sounds like a SB Chev My V-Rod, Nightrod Special with Cary Faas tip and a tune is louder but sounds anemic in comparison.

I think the sound of the Coyote in a S197 is a product of the mufflers being place behind the axle. I could be wrong though. My neighbor has a 2014 Camaro SS and his car at idle sounds a bit like my Mustang. Hard to describe the sound it makes but there is a particular aspect of it that is similar.

As Benjamin Franklin once said:
Beauty, like supreme dominion,
is but supported by opinion.

Who knows what the best sounding exhaust is (I mean, its not like music, where we can all agree that Hotel California was the best album of all time). However, if the argument is the Coyote isn't a good sounding engine, I think that's full of mush.

When we went to Charlotte for the 50th anniversary last year, I was walking towards the raceway entrance with my dad (who is a die-hard GM guy). We heard some cars on the track just screaming- sounded awesome. My dad says "I'll tell you one thing, THAT isn't a Mustang!" (and I'll admit to thinking he was probably right- it sounded like some NASCAR drivers were running laps. Well, we get to the infield and they were a couple of 2013 Boss 302 Mustangs running laps... and they sounded incredible!

A couple months later, I had my Boss quad exhaust ordered and got it hooked up, and I defy anyone to say my Coyote doesn't sound awesome (Boss quad + GT500 ABs).

I have a 2010 GT with the 4.6 and it sounds great with a stock setup. I really want to get a set of Flowmasters for it to bring out the sound. However, I can't really tell the difference from the 5.0. The 5.0 still sound boss!

My biggest issue with the 3V is the pitch change around 2800rpm

Best V8 Ever... depends on personal taste. My top 2 would priced under $100K today would be:

1. Ferrari F355 with full capristo exhaust (sounds like an F1 car)

go to 30 second mark of the video....

2. 03-04 SVT Cobra with Borla Stinger catback (better than my Shelby with Borla catback)

I got your V-8 Ford DNA right here. Nothing sounds as ear-gasmic as a hot rodded flathead. Nothing.

So endeth the lesson.

The firing order of the Coyote is what makes it sound like crap.

It's so hard to tell with these cell phone videos what they actually sound like, but I gotta say that I was surprised how easy it was to get the Coyote sounding like our old 70s and 80s V8s. Yes, if you want it to sound like a race car (whatever that means, as there are a bazillion race car sounds over the years), you might need to pick a different engine.

My friends and I have been super impressed with the Boss side exhaust, GT 500 ABs and TracKey for race car sound. But like that Camaro vid, I've heard one of those in person that sounded way better, and I liked its sound better than mine as well. But then I have to drive a late 80s Camaro.

I'm pretty sure that because these engine's are so popular, their sound will become "distinctive" over the years like VTEC motors have. I love the sound of my S2000 too, but it's a different world than the Mustang, just like the previous post with the motorcycle exhaust. Sounds awesome for a motorcycle but you really can't compare that to a V8. But you can't put a V8 on two wheels either (sanely) so no point in comparing them.

Quick Reply: Coyote is NOT the best sounding V8 around
