Seems like a good idea for a daily driver but for most detail freaks around here I doubt they would want it.

So it worked as advertised? Did you have to towel dry at all? Did it leave any spots?

I did not towel or drive-dry, and it only left a few spots on the hood where it leaked out of the reservoir (hood scoop). You'll want to towel dry trouble spots like around the hood scoop and spoiler.

I took the scoop off once and got rid of the adhesive around it...this way there is enough room under the scoop to let water drain when the hood is open. I did this and it works fine. Lets the water drain out the back of the scoop. I just let the trunk dry open..does the same thing as the hood for the most part.

man i have heard great and bad thing about the autodry....now i'm really not sure.

I'm not sure I'd use it for a car show, but my car looks pretty darn good right now and it took me less than half an hour.

No. Don't buy the Autodry! :nono: J/k...go ahead, but my dad owns a car wash.
(Can you say, "Family Discount = Free"? ) He isn't too happy about it, but nothing beats a hand wash. He's the only one that hand washes in town...

I've taken like 4 hours to wash my car when I do it by hand with 100% cotton towels. I have been lazy the past few months, plus winter, so I have been using the Absorber to get the job done in around 30-40 minutes. Has anyone here used this autodry on a black car yet? I just want to be sure I'm not wasting more money. Brad's blue is close to black so thats one good sign for us black car owners! B)

It works pretty darn good. But like Brad said, " You'll want to towel dry trouble spots"... and I am now questioning long term cost

Welp I finally broke down and bought it. It works suprisingly well. Although like a tard I bought a hose that is about 2 ft to short...so i need to get another one (can't reach the back of the car)

But overall I'm pleased

bman, I know you've already tried it, but I just read this post and thought it coincidence that you were asking about it.

I bought one and used it last week on my LX. I figured for $20 bucks it was worth a try.
It was convenient in that I didn't have to drag the bucket around.
However, it took about the same amount of time.
I still had to rinse off the sponge.
Of course, you still have to wash in the shade.
There may be something to it (the ionized water and filter aspect).
It provides a little more convenience.
I definitely think it's better for your paint to not drag a towel or absorber on it.
I used to use the absorber, myself.

Overall, a pleasant experience. Good for your weekly or monthly washing.

I've used it. It saves no time, but it is nice not to have to dry the car off. As far as show car use, I'd say it's an excellent addition to the show car prep if you are still going to dry the car with the towel. It helps prevent the water spots which can always be a problem.

I've decided that I'll just use it prior to prepping for wax and still dry by hand. That being said, it's still a worthwhile purchase (I got mine at Target on sale for $10 )

I have used autodry twice on my silver Taurus and black Mustang vert.I like the concept but have not found it to dry totally spot free. This may be due to two factors: 1) It's still not that warm yet in southern Ontario.
2) The water pressure in our subdivision may not be strong enough in the filtered rinse because there there has been soap residue on the hood and trunk of the black Mustang.
A tip for Canadians if you're going to get the system buy it at Price-Costco , it is the same price as the kit at Canadian Tire but has a ten wash filter instead of a t
hree wash filter and 600ml of soap instead of200ml.
Maybe it will be more effective as the weather improves and a little towel drying helps the Mustang to really shine streak free.

Wowza. Just washed the car with Mr. Clean Autodry. It didn't save any time over a normal wash, but it really does work. There is not a spot on the car. Another thing that I thought was gimmicky was in the booklet that came w/ it, there is a Q&A section and one question is "Why does my sponge look so much dirtier after using Mr. Clean Autodry?" They then tell you its b/c their soap cleans so much better...blah blah. But I noticed while washing that my sponge was turning very black after just one side of the car. Normally its only mildly dirty looking after finishing the whole car. And no, my car wasn't any dirtier than normal.

I would definitely recommend this product to everyone, but with a few tips. Be sure to spray the filtered rinse extensively around any extremely curvy areas(front fascia), the gas cap, and side view mirrors. Also, it seems to me that both the filter and wash will not quite live up to the 10 uses they promise(talking about the replacements, not the starter kit stuff). And remember, this really wont save you any time, but it will save you a bit of work. Now go buy it.
