Question QTP Electric Cutouts?

?
Acquired a set of Boss side pipes and considering adding the QTP QTEC302 Electric Cutouts. For those out there that have them or did at one time, would you do it again?

Are the worth the $340 cost? Install looks pretty easy, but how hard was it to wire? Would it be easy to get a better looking switch? What about the wireless switching option, and thoughts on this

I have them on my car, install was is pretty easy.

For the wiring, I removed my sound tube when I put my CAI on so I used that grommet to get the wires into the car. I then ran the wires down the console and put the switch inside the console. There is a blank cover you can pop out to drill for the switch and then pick up power from the power plug there.

I plan on moving my switch this summer, I picked up a light switch from a GT500 that has the 3 buttons on it. I will remove the buttons and make a plate to hold the switches I need in it's place.

As far a recommending them, I like that I can close them in the winter when my car is sitting there warming up. But for the most part in the summer I run them open all the time. So its a hard call if I would spend the money again. I have had one fail, but the company was great about taking care of the issue.

It's also nice on long trips you can close them, made a road trip to Texas last summer and closed them several times on the trip there and back.

Hope this helps.

Thanks for they info!

I like the idea of using the GT500 light switch. Did some checking and was planning on going that route. When I talked to my Ford dealer I found that the new bezel is only available as a full assembly. I wanted the 3 switches and the bezel, but did not need the light switch or dimmer. It was going to be about $175 to get there. This was just too much $$$.

So where did you get yours? Was it reasonably priced?

I would also like to do the GT500 switch. The QTP remote option for the cutouts is under $78. So that seemed like the best option. I am not willing to do anything to my car that I can't undo. With that option I do not have to do any cutting or drilling inside the car to make the install. I also did not have to remove anything and reinstall. So I went ahead and ordered those with my cutouts. Should be here today, hope to get them installed next week.

Sounds like QTP was easy to deal with when you had trouble. That is very good to know.

Keep us updated on you progress on using the GT500 switch. I really liked that option for the switch. May want to do that in the future. Not a fan of the switch that comes with the product.

Thanks!

Found the micro 3 way switch I needed at Radio Shack, but I am thinking about buying the 3 button unit from Emblempros.com.

It's going to add more money to the build, but in the end it will look nice. I will have to cut down their plate and turn the switches for the right position. I may even email them and see if they could custom make it for this.

Honestly, now that I've seen that I'd just do the access panel solution. That's freaking awesome looking.
