Thumbs up Hola

I had 2 1969 Mustang Mach 1's. The first one was a champagne gold 351 Cleveland with an automatic. I soon wished for more horsepower and got a new 428 Cobra Jet. It was a yellow 4 speed asphalt burner. It was also a piece or crap. It constantly locked between 2nd and 3rd if it was a hard shift. The stereo never worked more than a day or two at a time. It was brutally fast though. I ran H stock at Norwalk and my best time was a 12.41 under perfect conditions.

I recently got the bug again. My Toyota Tundra crew cab just wasn't the vehicle to use for valet parking at the casino. I got a 2013 convertible with 43,000miles on it. It's silver gray with a black top and the performance blows me away. It's stock times are faster than my 428 Cobra Jet. I did a light to light run yesterday against a Dodge Challenger and it wasn't and doubt about it. My V-6 ate his V-8 and spit it out.

My problem: This new Mustang was a part of a rental fleet in Hawaii. It came with only the basic key instead of the admin key that I need to eliminate the setting the rental company had set. My speed is limited to 80 miles per hours. That sounds like a plenty fast speed, but it is amazing how often I bump up against the speed limiter. The Ford dealer wants $230 to cut and program a new admin key for my car. I had no hint that there were limits set in the car when I bought it. At $14,000 I'm pleased with everything except for these limiting items. It's an awesome car. It sounds great. Looks great. Get's about 22 miles per gallon even with a heavy foot.

welcome to the heard, my Mustang has a problem going 80....just feels too slow....good luck with getting the stang working right, I would call up the rental company and see if they might be able to either get you the admin key (I would think they would have had it) or at least be able to help you with removing the limiting crap...especially if its a national chain like Enterprise rental for example...
