2017 ZL1

http://www.motortrend.com/news/ride-...ro-zl1-wvideo/

I'm honestly surprised they didn't go with the Z/28 moniker like they did with the C7 Z06 instead of using the ZR1 moniker for their supercharged car.

I wonder how pricing will go? I'm guessing somewhere in the 70's but I know the GM guys are hoping for somewhere in the 60's which might be a blessing in disguise for the Ford crowd if comes in at GT350 money and beats it in instrumented tests. Ford probably won't budge much on MSRP but it might help with the ADMs since these are cars that can be cross shopped. I'm not saying GM is ADM proof but when you can get more car at the same ADM adjusted price it still comes across as a better deal.

Definitely a good time to be a GM fan as they have been putting out a **** good product blitz lately and leveraging the alpha platform for all its worth!

I read 200lb lighter than the old ZL1, so 3600ish? If you go on mustang6g the top story is "spy shots of new colors for 2017" lmao...meanwhile at GM...

I remember when GM proudly announced the 580 HP ZL-1. I loved it when Ford countered the next day with saying the GT500 would have more than 600 HP. Even better when more than turned out to be 662

Yeah the problem was the GT500 wasn't any faster, thanks to the tires they outfitted it with

She's a "whiner" folks. That whine though.
This car is going to be fast! F_A_S_T! Pretty much the same power/torque as the C7 Z06 minus 10lbs. of torque. I think this ZL1 model is down 200 lbs in weight than previous models too. I HATE that rear spoiler though. I'm sure the aftermarket companies will take care of that though.

I would easily take a Z06 over this.

Yes, I'll take one please....

"That’s two more gears than the auto unit in the Z06 and CTS-V. According to Reuss, the Camaro ZL1’s new 10-speed auto shifts faster than a dual-clutch transmission."

More like 3800-3900 pounds. The F5 ZL1 was over 4000 pounds, closer to 4100 pounds IIRC.

Still not bad considering you have Mustang GTs reaching that weight with the S550.

Very true.
Plus,...Chevy is on top of Ford now with the ZL1.
Ford doesn't have anything new that will beat the ZL1 in a 0-60. (I know the ZL1 isn't even out yet, but I'm going with it. It will beat any newer Ford 2015-up in a 0-60 and quarter mile. I'm guessing it will be a terror on the track as well, if Chevy has taken care of the heat issues. I think they have a lot of "coolers" in this car, if I read correctly. We shall see! lol) Ford won't let that last! C'mon Ford,...we want our GT500!! Make it a V8 please! Gobs of power and torque. Thank you.

Ford GT . . . Just saying. And Sebring is this weekend. Tough track, and good test for GT . .

That's right. Forgot about the GT. But, then again,.................it's not your average everyday car! lol
My neighbor has one. He has to flip a coin as to what car he'll drive. He's got some really nice cars.

Indeed, although I think the root of GM''s problems lie with using such a small blower, they are making almost the same power on 1.8 or 1.9 liter blower as they were with the 2.3 used on the earlier LS9 with a broader torque curve. Any supercharger or turbocharger like an engine is most efficient in a specific operating range and outside that range at least when the unit is spun up its uselessly heating the air plus GM is running a lot of compression making the engines very heat sensitive. Direct Injection is only going to get you so far before the nannies kick in and dial everything back so the hood doesn't lift over a mushroom cloud.

That's my guess at leasthe as I don't recall the C6 ZR1 having heat related issues.

Wouldn't the GT be more of a match for the Corvette? Even though I believe the GT is a lot more expensive than the average corvette...

I wouldn't worry about the numbers to much unless you are someone who goes to the track or drag strip....

fun to talk about of course but most of us prob could not affoard these monsters in the first place.

Most of us would be put in jail if we tried to use all of the 420+hp that we currently have anyway.

I myself just like my car because:

1. Its a 5.0
2. It looks great
3. It sounds great.
4. Its Butt Dyno Approved.

Well now you Camaro fan boys will not have to feel so bad about the ZL1 Love....

Actually I was shocked, had no idea. So not only are the Camaro and Mustang competitors, they will actually become relatives?
