After high rpm run car died when put in neutral
I was driving on the highway yesterday trying to make it to my exit a bit quicker (135mph) had it in 4th til about 125 which put rpms at approx. 5500 then shifted to 5th. So not to red line. As I'm hitting the off ramp I pull it out of gear and into neutral then my car just dies. I coast to a stopping point, wait a few seconds and started it back up. Drove the rest of the way home just fine. I drove back to work again today (60 miles round trip) with no issues either. Just wondering why that happened. Did ford build the 2V 4.6 with a cut off when brought close to red line?
BTW this had happened once before on another occasion. Went ***** to the wall with an Evo from 80 all the way to 150mph (empty open road) I honestly can't remember if I hit red line or not, too much adrenaline crazy race. car died on the way home maybe 10 minutes after I lost the guy. Same deal, waited a few seconds then started it back up. That was a couple months ago...
Anyone else had this happen?
