Jerk at tire shop. Need Help!
I bought these cobra R rims that are 17X9's and according to this guy at a tire shop, if he install's them they would be illegal as they would stick out past the fender. I think this is . Can anybody help me out here? Are they going to stick out past the fender?

Offset could come in to play as well, but who cares - it's your car, and therefore your call.
Tell the guy forget it and go to a different tire store that appreciates your business.

If they are the same offset as the real '95 Cobra R's then they do not stick out....that is not his call to make anyway. If he doesn't want your business tell him so and go elsewhere

yeah just take your business elsewhere. I'm not sure about other states but I know in Pennsylvania it is indeed illegal to have your tires protruding from the body of the car, but unless the garage was performing a state inspection that isn't a concern for them

I did remove the quad shocks...no other mods are necessary. Sometimes you can flip the quads to clear a tire but with the 275/40's I had to remove them.

However, it is certianly his perogative to do so. On the unlikely event that they did protrude from the wheel well, it could present a problem for him. This guy would be considered an expert and if he knowingly installed a set of wheels that placed you or other drivers in harms way, then yeah, its his ****!

Your probably right. I wasn't in a great mood when I talked to him in the first place, and our conversation just set me off! ARRGGG why can't life just be easy?

Lol, np, I get exposed to this stuff on a regular basis, you could try asking him to mount the wheels and tires by themselves and you install them on your car, thats a reasonable work around for him as long as you dont put him in a position where he has to make a judgement call (at least on paper), you can always say they are for something like your custom riding lawnmower or some such.
