Ford to Add New Features to Mustang Customizing App
When it comes to the Ford Mustang, the all-new 2015 isn’t the only thing packed with a lot of cutting-edge technology features. Even the popular Mustang customizing app, first launched in 2009, is going more high-tech.
The new app for the 2015 Mustang allows potential buyers to build their dream Mustang in any color imaginable, using dozens of parts – including wheels, spoilers, and body panels. But the customizer can also help identify local dealers with a Mustang in stock that has similar custom features to those created on the app, according to Ford.
Available for Android, Apple, and desktop devices, the new Mustang Customizer also features a dynamic 3-D rendering with improved graphics, allowing the car to be viewed from practically every angle. In addition, the images of customized Mustangs can now be shared across various social media platforms including Facebook, Twitter, and Instagram.
The dealer locator component of the Mustang app functions by assessing key aspects of the customized car by using a feature — like color, trim, and engine choice — and then inputting that info into a dealer inventory database, identifying dealers that have a similar Mustang in stock.
Future features will include a video-creation mode, the ability to place a custom Mustang anywhere in the world via Google Streetview, and a new interactive racing game.
