According to Car and Driver, Ford’s 5.2-liter Voodoo V8 engine is one of the greatest engines roaming today’s streets. How can it not be? It achieves a sweet spot between horsepower, torque, and reliability that many high-performance engines simply can’t.
The Ford flathead V8 is currently found in the Mustang Shelby GT350, and the mighty Shelby GT350R. Undoubtedly two of the most capable and desirable Mustangs ever, the Voodoo V8 plays a huge role in such success. Perhaps, that’s why it earned a coveted spot in this top 10 list. Indeed, we’ve had the opportunity to experience this motor on a race track, and the sounds it produces are utterly amazing.

The GT350R pumps out a robust 526 horsepower and 429 lb-ft of torque. That’s enough to propel the badass pony car from 0-60 mph in little over 3 seconds. If you want to reach 130 mph, it’ll only take 14.5 seconds, or just as long as it takes a Ford Fiesta to reach highway speeds.
