210 MPH Fox-body at the Texas Mile: Video Inside

While this isn’t exactly hot off the presses anymore, it’s still one of my favorite Mustang videos floating around the ‘net. Why, because as a Fox-body fanatic I’ve always wondered, in the back of my mind what it would take to bust 200 mph in an ol’ Fox. Surprisingly, not as much as one might think! That’s not to say Tyler Garcia’s 1990 LX Mustang isn’t a solid combo, quite the contrary, but people often think you need massive boost and 1500 hp to pop the big two-oh.

Instead, Garcia’s Fox uses a 358 cubic inch Windsor that’s force fed by a Yortech YSI snail, tuned by Strictly Performance and backed by a tried and true face-plated TKO600 transmission with what must be a sky-high rear gear. Oddly enough, the car still packs amenities like AC and power steering, who would have thought?

How fast did Garcia go? Try 210.2 MPH! That’s cookin’ by anybody’s definition and worthy of serious praise for doing it in a Fox-body. I wonder what it felt like at those speeds? Oh yeah, he was still running four-lug wheels and he even had a Saleen wing. I wonder how much downforce it generated? So if like me, you wondered what it would take to get your Fox-body to 200 mph, well wonder no more.

Hat’s off to you Tyler! Dang impressive. Sit back and enjoy the video, it’s pretty cool!
