There just seems to be no end to the ways you can celebrate a car as iconic as the Mustang.

Then again, I guess when you have 50 years of history behind you, you deserve all the attention you can get. The latest includes a one-of-a-kind display that features a 1965 Mustang merged to a 2015 model.

Developed as a tribute to innovation and intellectual property, the contemporary/classic Mustang is part of a new, permanent Intellectual Property Power exhibit at the National Inventors Hall of Fame. The project is also designed to highlight the importance of patents and trademarks, as well as the technology that has helped bring great American innovations like the Mustang to life.

According to an official Ford press release, in 1965, the Mustang utilized more than 100 of Ford’s existing functional patents. The 2015 Mustang builds on that legacy with 15 new patents, including the first passenger knee airbag system packaged inside the glove-box door.

Check out the video below for a better look at how the Hall of Fame pieced these two icons together. Then let us know what you think!
